Amazing you - ATC (artist trading card)

Amazing you - ATC

Today I have been busy making ATCs for some special people, who shall remain nameless ;)

I wanted to use up some scrap metallic gift wrap that I had and also some found flowers, which were lost until I decided to tidy up my craft supplies. Lol.

Anyway, here is one of the cards.
I will be doing a video tutorial on how to make these cards, so keep a look out for that.

Thanks for visiting.

Summer in blue - mixed media card

Summer in blue - mixed media card

On this card I have painted and used stencils to create a background, which was added as the second layer to the card base.
Next I added one of my hand painted flowers on top with a flatback pearl embellishment.
The lace trim below that is a sticky back tape.
The last thing to go on was a stamped and die cut greeting which is on dimensionals.

I'm entering this one to the Mixed media card challenge blog

I hope you like the card.
Thank you for visiting.

Friendship postcard swap

Friendship postcard swap

Hi everyone. I hope your week is off to a good start. Mine is with the arrival of some lovely happy mail from a swap I was taking part in over at International crafters Facebook group.

For this swap we had to make a postcard for our partner on the theme of friendship and use at least one item that we had received in previous happy mail.

This is the postcard I made. The background paper and heart sticker were both items from happy mail.

My partner in the swap was Soraya, and today I was so happy and excited to receive a postcard and extra goodies from her. She did a fantastic job on the postcard. I love it.

Here are the beautiful items she sent me.

I will certainly be having fun with those extras soon!
Thank you Soraya :)

#lovesummerart day 2 - watercolour/mixed media tag

Colourful summer tags

I have been playing with watercolours, ink and heat embossing today.
This was my fun, colourful project for day 2 of the YouTube artist/crafters event #lovesummerart.

To me Summer is about bright colours, flowers, butterflies and also warmer days where I can go out without having to don my winter coat, thermal gloves and hat ;)
We don't get a lot of warm dry days here in Scotland.

I would love to hear what Summer means to you.

Anyway here is my project. I hope you like seeing these pretty tags.

I also have a video of how these tags were made so please do check that out.

Thank you for visiting.

Pretty in purple tag

Pretty in purple tag

Recently I had some gelli plate fun and this tag is a result of one of the prints. I have to say I'm really pleased with how the project turned out :)

I used two decoart acrylic paint colours on the gelli plate.
Bubble gum pink and Grapejuice.

I placed the tag directly onto the plate and lifted a very nice floral print.
Next I used Liquitex modelling paste with a stencil to make the textured dots.
Once that was dry I dripped some of the Grape juice paint down the tag and paint splattered with Bubble gum pink.

To finish the tag, I added a cream heart flatback embellishment, along with a circular flatback in the middle of a flower that I received in a happy mail.

The only thing left to do after that was to add some pretty cream trim as a tie.

I do hope you like the tag as much as I do :)

Thank you so much for visiting and reading.

Page 2 - altered children's board book

Page 2 - Quick collage frame page

Yesterday afternoon I had fun making a simple frame page in my altered children's board book.
I wanted to make something that was quick and easy, but at the same time, would help me use up some of my scrap drop paper and stamp off pieces. They make interesting, but messy looking backgrounds - What fun!

Here is the result of my fun afternoon :)

Thankfully the finished page looks a lot different from my random glueing down of scraps. It did start of looking very chaotic. I had my doubts about this page at this stage...but I think that about all my pages when I first start them ;)

I let the page dry before continuing on.
Next I decided to give it a thin coat of whitewash. I used plain old white acrylic paint and used water to thin the paint down. Once I felt the paint was thin enough, I applied one coat to my page, then dried and trimmed up the rough edges around the page.

Once this stage was dried, I looked out some scrapbook paper. I chose a 6 x 6 sheet from a Wild rose studio paper pack called Peach blossom. It was very handy that my book is also square shaped and larger than the paper pack,  so I didn't have to do any measuring and cutting. Don't you just love it when things happen that way :)
All I had to do was centre it and glue it down.
I had my central panel and fancy frame around it.

Then the fun of completing the page could begin.
As you can see from the first picture, I did a little finger painting in black around the edge of the page. That really helped in making the frame stand out. I outlined the central panel with a black sharpie marker and did some scallop doodling around that.

To finish the page, I added one of my hand painted doodle flowers (I have a YouTube tutorial on how to make these. I will post it at the end of this post)
I drew a stem and leaves with a black sharpie marker. I wanted to stay with the non coloured look, so no green leaves for this little lovely :)
Next, I added some stamped butterflies using jet black StazOn ink
The butterflies are a set by Stampin' Up called papilon potpourri.
I also lightly stamped parts of the butterflies around my frame.
The last thing to be done was to add a sentiment.

I had my doubts at the start of this page but now I am really happy with the results. It's a simple page but it was great fun and that's how art should be :)

I hope you like this page too.
Thank you for reading.

Page 1 - Altered children's book (mixed media)

Greetings from central Scoland. It's a grey day outside, so I will be brightening things up for myself by working on some art projects.

Today I wanted to share with you my latest completed work, which is page 1 of an altered children's board book. I was inspired to take on this altered book project by Ilene McInnes on YouTube.

My first page is a mixed media acrylic painting of a girl :)

I have a video playlist of speed painting this page Video playlist
A variety of mediums were used to create her, including acrylic paint, gesso, markers, pencils, stencils and mod podge to seal the page.
